Frequently asked questions
Good questions make better plans
These plain-language answers are a starting point, not project-specific engineering, financial, legal or tax advice. Local conditions and rules matter.
Photovoltaic cells convert daylight into direct-current electricity. An inverter changes it for household use. Production depends on light, shade, system design, equipment and weather; a qualified local assessment is needed for a specific home.
Read the solar overviewRoof condition, orientation, shade, structural details, electricity use, local permitting and utility rules can all be relevant. Gather questions and ask a qualified provider to explain the assessment and its limitations.
Prepare provider questionsNot necessarily. Backup capability depends on system design, battery capacity, loads, charging conditions, controls and local interconnection rules. Ask a qualified installer to explain exactly what would remain powered and for how long.
Follow the equipment manufacturer's documentation and ask your installer about monitoring, inspections, safe access and warranty requirements. Never climb onto a roof or handle electrical components to troubleshoot a system.
Read the maintenance guideNo. It multiplies an example monthly bill by an adjustable share to illustrate basic arithmetic. It excludes installation, financing, fixed charges, export rates, weather, incentives and many other factors; it does not calculate return on investment.
